Lumens or Watts

Is it true while purchasing a light bulb we get confused in deciding which bulb should be purchased? Yes, here I am talking about the confusion of choosing correct wattage bulb among Incandescent, Fluorescent and LED. I think many of us get confused because when all these bulbs emits the same amount of lights while consume different amount of electricity
.

Most of the people familiar with all these bulbs (Incandescent, Fluorescent and LED) and while buying the bulb most of us think that same wattage bulb emits same amount of light, although the reality is different. Before comparing different light bulbs, we need to know about lumens. Lumens tell us how bright a light bulb is, no matter what type of bulb is.

The above chart clearly depicts that LED bulbs are much more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs and fluorescent bulbs. If now you have understood the concept of lumens than soon your confusion will be end because from 2012, on the description level of light bulb packages a bulb’s brightness will emphasize in terms of lumens, instead of the bulb’s energy usage in watts.
