Lumens or Watts

Is it true while purchasing a light bulb we get confused in deciding which bulb should be purchased? Yes, here I am talking about the confusion of choosing correct wattage bulb among Incandescent, Fluorescent and LED. I think many of us get confused because when all these bulbs emits the same amount of lights while consume different amount of electricity
.

Most of the people familiar with all these bulbs (Incandescent, Fluorescent and LED) and while buying the bulb most of us think that same wattage bulb emits same amount of light, although the reality is different. Before comparing different light bulbs, we need to know about lumens. Lumens tell us how bright a light bulb is, no matter what type of bulb is.

The above chart clearly depicts that LED bulbs are much more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs and fluorescent bulbs. If now you have understood the concept of lumens than soon your confusion will be end because from 2012, on the description level of light bulb packages a bulb’s brightness will emphasize in terms of lumens, instead of the bulb’s energy usage in watts.

Must Have Tips For Your BEDROOM LIGHTING!

Once the natural light goes down the artificial light set the frame of mind and change our space instantly specially in the bedroom. Whenever we talk about the bedroom the lightning system it is done for the healthy feeling of the people. If we need lots of light, then opaque lamp materials shouldn’t be used because it won’t help you very much. However for the romantic ambiance dim light would be more perfect.

Before choosing the lamps or fixture we should consider the fact that how long we are going to keep the furniture in the bedroom, because if we are frequently changing it then the lighting systems would be meaningless. Once the furniture is changed the whole atmosphere might be different from the light pattern. Size of bedroom also matters before picking the lamps. The bedroom is my house is the place which I have decorated according to my choice of ambiance, it’s very different from my living room settings.

Generally, we use 1 lamp in 2 different sides of the bed, only one source of light is not good enough, a combination of small portable/fixed sources are more preferable because it also helps when we get dressed. Try to avoid the ceiling fixtures/flush mounted fixtures because it may discomfort when you look up while reclining in bed, or else you can install a dimmer to that source.

Book lover can use reading lamps near the bed corners. The light must be adjusted in such a way that it covers the corners of the room and closet properly, otherwise a closet light must be used to determine the color of cloths. CHOOSE THE RIGHT ENERGY SAVING LAMPS

I always rely on Havells Sylvania lighting products because they are Energy Star rated and gives satisfying performance than the other brands. They have large varieties of product range with quality light and durability. Their each product is also designed in a special way which differentiates them from the other brands. Though these energy efficient bulbs are costly to purchase, they will be beneficial in the long term. While, purchasing any energy saving bulb, firstly look for Energy Star label in it because every time you are using an Energy Star qualified product you are saving energy, money, and greenhouse gas emissions. And also check with your photocell or timer manufacturer for compatibility because most of them are not designed to work with CFLs. Among these three kinds of bulbs, LEDs are the most effective one, they lasts up to 100 times than that of the incandescent bulbs. Finally, as we know that CFLs contain harmful chemicals we should recycle it once damaged.

Choosing the right light bulb can turn out to be beneficial in many ways. It can decrease your electricity bills, save large amount of energy, durable usage etc. All the leading lighting manufacturers have started to produce energy saving lights like CFLs, LEDs and Halogen bulbs. Each of these energy efficient light bulbs has particular characteristics, advantages and drawbacks. Firstly CFL (Compact Flourescent Light), this light bulb can generate more light per watt of electricity than the traditional incandescent bulbs and consumes less energy. But they are made up of harmful chemicals called mercury, which are harmful for health and environment when exposed. LED lights are very efficient and last for a long time, but they are at the same time very expensive and some people find it difficult to afford it. Lastly, Halogen bulbs are specially designed to reduce the amount of tungsten that evaporates within the bulb making it more efficient than the incandescent bulbs.

LIGHTING IN SPORTS WORLD -Cricket-

Beside all my other hobbies I like to play cricket as well, being a cricket fan or as a part of my subject today I thought let’s enlighten you all about the lights were used in sport stadiums.Light actually plays a very significant role in sports world, as it’s a mandatory requirement for stadiums to have a proper light arrangement to allow game to be scheduled outside daylight hours. With the new invention in science & technology we have latest lighting equipments these days to plan, decorate & organize our events whether it’s a sport event, a night party or a wedding ceremony etc. Now considering my focus on outdoor lighting/lighting in sport stadiums I would like to share my knowledge about the same.

I believe all of us have seen the cricket matches or football matches held in stadium at national or international level at nights, or even some of us have joined them as well in stadium while 20-T, world cup or FIFA etc. The organizers have been using a very special type of lightings there in stadium to eliminate the darkness and that really help the players to concentrate on their goals & targets.

Generally in sport stadiums they were using High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps i.e. Metal Halide Lamps is a kind of HID lamps, produces a very high amount of light output according to their size, by inventing a new technology our light manufacturers make them compact powerful and efficient source of light. Metal Halide is now available in various watts: 150W, 175W, 250W, 400W, 1000W, 1500W and 1650Watt. But for commercial use in stadium organizer most commonly prefer 1000W – 1650W.
These days Metal Halide HID lamps are most preferable light lamps used in stadiums and like other HID lamps metal halide also operates under high pressure & temperature. Moreover as these lamps are small in size compared to incandescent or fluorescent lamps of the same light intensity, they can also be used in residential areas for lighting outdoor, in warehouses or in industries.

This is how metal halide lights look like, but friends as I mentioned above that we can also use these lights in our residential areas also, so for such uses I recommend to use up to 150W only because this much amount of watts light is sufficient to be placed in society. Light is really a very important part of our life so use it & save it by knowing about the different form of lights for different places.
